Judges Comments

The Railroad Bridge Oder near Küstrin, spanning 266 m across the Oder River, is the world’s first railroad bridge using carbon fibre tension members as primary load-bearing elements. Its innovative network arch design reduces weight and material use, achieving a 20% lower ecological footprint. The bridge enables increased rail capacity and speeds (up to 120 km/h), with a fibre optic monitoring system. The project exemplifies structural excellence, sustainability, and cutting-edge engineering with thorough testing and precise assembly.
