Durumi Footbridge

Project Description:

The DURUMI Footbridge is an innovative cable net suspension bridge built in an unstable gorge, achieving both structural stability and aesthetic beauty through its unique hyperboloid structure and innovative construction methods. Its sustainable design contributes to revitalizing local tourism and sets a new standard for long-span bridge design.

Judges Comments

The DURUMI Footbridge is a 201-meter-long hybrid cable net suspension structure spanning the Hantangang Gorge, designed to address unstable ground conditions without wind cables. Utilizing a double helix hyperboloid cable net system, it enhances structural rigidity, vibration resistance, and wind stability—confirmed via wind tunnel testing. Modular prefabricated components enabled efficient, safe assembly, reducing on-site welding and environmental impact. The structure blends advanced engineering, aesthetic design, and environmental harmony, offering a technically robust and visually integrated landmark within a UNESCO Global Geopark.
