Judges Comments

To meet FIFA's standards for the inaugural Club World Cup finals, the existing Shanghai stadium underwent major upgrades, increasing seating capacity from 58,000 to 72,000, making it one of the top stadia in the country. This required extending the steel cantilever roof from 65m to 81.5m as well as the addition of extra stands. To achieve the roof extension, and lightweight cable truss system was used to supplement the original steel cantilever structure.
