Bridge over Seeblickweg Project Description: Using innovative materials such as carbon and glass fibre-reinforced polymer, combined with the low-maintenance integral timber-concrete composite construction, it was necessary to design beyond the existing bridge construction standards. With multiple experimental approaches, as well as the application of newly introduced guidelines, a structure was realized that demonstrates the future potential of these construction methods. Judges Comments The Bridge over Seeblickweg in Stuttgart is a pioneering 73-meter pedestrian and cycling bridge featuring an innovative timber-concrete composite structure with non-metallic carbon and glass fibre reinforcement. Designed for durability, sustainability and an attractive aesthetic, it enhances social connectivity and promotes eco-friendly transport. The project integrates advanced digital planning, monitoring, and construction techniques, achieving a low-maintenance, long lifespan (approx. 70 years), and sets new standards in bridge engineering, combining renewable materials with cutting-edge technology.Structural Designer Harrer Ingenieure GmbHDipl.-Ing.
