Project Description:

Tianfu Agro-Expo Science Innovation and R&D Hub is a landmark complex integrating modern agricultural technology exhibitions, cultural exchange, and ecological experiences. The architectural design centers on a "Green Seedling" imagery. Three arched roof planes growing outward constitute the basic building unit, resembling sprouted leaves breaking through soil, harmonizing with the surrounding fields.

Judges Comments

This carbon-negative glulam hub achieves 36 metre spans with a demanding span-to-rise ratio of 9.5 in the geometry. Overcoming timber's natural weaknesses, engineers innovated a breakthrough self-balancing tie-rod and leaning-column system. Optimized via genetic algorithms, the biomimetic structure seamlessly unites engineering efficiency, sustainability and elegance.
