Commission 4
Construction Methods and Processes Objectives Commission 4 organizes and promotes activities contributing to deeper understanding and best practices in construction methods and processes for any type of structure. We aim to provide a strategic direction for the future construction market by introducing successful case studies and innovative methodologies that will lead the construction industry toward a more sustainable future. Field of Activity During the previous term, C4 was active in preparing the IABSE Bulletins- Special Publications SP1, Bridge Construction Methods Essentials and Critical Lessons, which is a comprehensive guideline for best practices related to bridge construction methods and processes. Building upon this foundation, new C4 will place a primary focus on Sustainable Construction and its associated processes. The commission targets leading some critical topics like digitization, innovative methodologies as well as LCA(Life Cycle Assessment) and asset management. C4 will incorporate lessons learned from practice, from the conventional bridge projects, and from new attempts of floating structures, in creation of applicable guidelines for sustainable construction methods and processes.
