Artificial Intelligence in Structural Engineering

Mission Statement/Objectives
The mission is to conduct more in-depth review of status and future impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of the structural engineering.

Scope & Limitation
The focus of the Task Group is to identify artificial intelligence solutions in the field of the structural engineering. Other aspects of construction engineering are not covered by this project. With future scenarios learnings from different business sectors are also considered.

Expected Project Output
The preparation of the IABSE AI Workshop 2020 - AI and Data-driven Design in Structural Engineering, Helsinki, March 25-26, 2020,  www.ril.fi/iabse2020 event as a kick-off for the coming yearly AI in AEC conferences. 2020 event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the work for AI in AEC conference 2021, Helsinki, March 24-25, 2021 www.aiaec.net continued by the organizing committee having some of the members of the task group. The article of 2021 AI event, which concludes the activity of TG, was published in August 2021 number of Structural Engineering International (SEI) journal.
