 Jan. 9 US

IABSE-US NG has secured a slot to make a presentation to the Bridge Construction Committee at the TRB Annual Meeting, which will take place Tuesday, January 9, 1:30PM - 5:30PM in Washington, DC. If you are interested in presenting a relevant topic at this meeting, please contact Chiara Rosignoli at crosignoli@hardestyhanover.com. A social event will also be planned for IABSE members attending the Annual Meeting. 

 Jan 11  Chile  Seminar on Digitalization organised by the Chilean NG, speaker will be Dr.Kristian Schellenberg from Switzerland.

Meeting in Toulouse and discussion on: "Prescribing concrete correctly Season 2: the new features of the NF EN 206+A2/CN standard and the updating of the AFGC recommendations for the eco-design of concrete".

Webinar from 17h30 - 19h00  CET time  (only in French) on  "Towards an integrated approach for the evaluation of existing structures: Study of riveted lattice beams in French railway station halls from 1850-1930.

 BST 5 with Laurent Rus, Spain, on January 29, 10 am Colombian time. Topic: Bridge Failure Analysis: Shallow and Deep Causes. BST 4 with Bruno Godart, France, on February 19, 10 am Colombian time. Topic: Pathology of Prestressed Concrete Structures.

 29 April  USA Mr. Gernot Komar, Dipl-Ing, PE will present the precast and cast-in-place segmental concrete project “Improvement of Al Shindagha Corridor with Infinity Arch Bridge in Dubai”, at the University of California at San Diego, 12 hrs Pacific time. The event is free for members and non-members and will provide one Professional Development Hour (1PDH) which is free to IABSE members and $20 for non-IABSE members. The primary focus of this conference is to showcase smart technology, practices, and methods within the field of structural engineering

Bolivian NG is also planning the following site visits for young engineers: the last major bridges recently built in Bolivia; bridges built by lifting; and a guided visit to precast plant – SOBOPRET.

  • Technical webinars every Thursday at 17.30hrs CET (French NG)
  • BST Initiative (Bridges for Social Transformation) webinars connecting university students and IABSE experts (Colombian NG)
  • Annual IABSE BG NG award and National competition "Kolyu Ficheto" for the best diploma thesis in the field of "Civil Engineering", organized by the Bulgarian Scientific and Technical Union of Civil Engineering (Bulgarian NG)
  • Site visit to Penlink project/similar project, tbc (New Zealand)
  • Encourage the development of IABSE “hubs” in the Vancouver and Greater Toronto regions (Canadian NG)
  • Italian NG is planning on mentoring programs for the young engineers.
