Welcome to the Website of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE).

It is a privilege to lead this distinguished Association, founded in 1929 in Zurich, Switzerland, with the mission to advance the science and practice of structural engineering worldwide. For nearly a century, IABSE has been a global platform uniting engineers, researchers, architects, and construction professionals committed to creating safer, resilient, and sustainable structures for the benefit of society.

Today, structural engineers are at the forefront of addressing global challenges - from climate change and sustainability to digital transformation and infrastructure renewal. IABSE supports this mission through a strong international network of nearly 2000 members across 103 countries and 63 National Groups, promoting collaboration and exchange of ideas across borders.

Through IABSE’s Technical Committee, comprising Commissions, Editorial Boards and Task Groups, IABSE fosters technical excellence and innovation. The Association’s publications - the Structural Engineering International (SEI) journal, Bulletins including Structural Engineering Documents, Case Studies and Special Publications - disseminate cutting-edge knowledge and best practices to the global community.

The IABSE Academy platform, featuring the IABSE Diploma, Digital Resources, Toolbox and Community, provides valuable online courses, lectures and webinars, supporting continuous learning opportunities for professionals and young engineers alike. The Young Engineers Committee, which organises activities where young engineers can network and join in various knowledge building activities, like the upcoming Young Engineering Colloquiums. IABSE also offers Young Engineers awards, reduced fees, and mentoring sessions are regularly organised at IABSE events.

Our Annual IABSE Awards celebrate outstanding people, projects, and papers that exemplify creativity and professional excellence. The Calendar of Events features a wide range of international Symposia, Congresses, Conferences, and local National Group events, where members share knowledge and build enduring professional relationships.
