From 18 - 19 December 2025, the Croatian group of IABSE supported the 5th (final) LWT-FLOOR project workshop held in Zagreb, Croatia, at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Civil Engineering. During the workshop, recent research results and project activities of the Croatian Science Foundation's ‘Innovative lightweight cold-formed steel–concrete composite floor system – LWT-FLOOR' project were presented and discussed. A highlight of the workshop was the keynote lecture by Prof. Viorel Ungureanu, entitled ‘Recent Developments in Built-Up Cold-Formed Steel Components with Corrugated Webs’. The lecture provided valuable insights into recent advances, structural behaviour, and design aspects of built-up cold-formed steel elements with corrugated webs, highly relevant to the objectives of the LWT-FLOOR project.

From 19-22 March 2025, the 3rd Croatian Conference on Earthquake Engineering (3CroCEE) took place in Split, Croatia, on the fifth anniversary of the 2020 Zagreb earthquake, with the aim to continue to share knowledge and raise awareness for the largest threat/risk to Croatia. Members of the IABSE Croatian National group gathered at the Conference to present and discuss several topics, namely the following:

(i) New provisions for seismic design of bridges according to the 2nd generation of Eurocodes; (ii) Impact of environment and climate change on seismic resistance of concrete bridges; (iii) Field application for assessing the damage and usability of bridges after an earthquake; (iv) Application of the Bailey bridge in post-earthquake interventions; (v) Behaviour of dual steel frames with innovative double skin cold-formed steel-concrete composite shear walls; (vi) Seismic behaviour of prefabricated wall panels; and (vii) Integration of OMA and FEMU for estimation modulus of elasticity in masonry structures

LWT-FLOOR project workshop, Croatia

On 19 December 2024, the Croatian group of IABSE supported the fourth LWT-FLOOR project workshop held in Zagreb, Croatia, at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Civil Engineering. The past and future activities of Croatian Science Foundation project 'Innovative lightweight cold-formed steel-concrete composite floor system - LWT-FLOOR' and recent project results were presented and discussed during the workshop.

Participation in IABSE Congress San Jose 2024

The Croatian Group, led by the Chair and the Vice Chair, had a delegate of Croatian members who attended the IABSE Congress and the Annual Meetings. The Chair, Prof. Mandic Ivankovic who is also the Chair of the SEI Editorial Board, organised a meeting for the SEI Editorial Board members, prior to the Congress.
