The bridge across the Corgo Valley is located 80 km east of Porto on the Interior Norte Highway (IP3) linking Viseu to Chaves on the northern border with Spain and crosses the valley 80 m above the riverbed at its confluence with the Tanha River. The bridge has two parallel continuous prestressed concrete box-girder decks, each 13 m wide, with five spans, two end spans of 95 m and three central main spans of 145 m, and a total length of 625 m measured along the road alignment. The decks were cast-in-place by the balanced cantilever method. The road alignment has a significant curvature in plan (R = 500 m) and due to this and to the spacing between the decks (6 m), segments on both decks have different lengths; 3,60 m in the outer curve deck and 3,45 m in the inner curve one.
