Final Invitation

2019 IABSE Congress New York City: ‘The Evolving Metropolis’

The IABSE Congress, celebrating the 90th anniversary of IABSE, will take place in the great metropolis of New York City on September 4 - 6, 2019. The theme “Evolving Metropolis” is the over-arching Congress theme with many sub-themes including special sessions on “The 200 Year Bridge” and “Tomorrow’s Affordable Housing”. Preceding the Congress on September 2 – 3, will be the IABSE Annual Meetings at the Silman’s office that overlooks the famous Brooklyn Bridge, the East River and the coast of Brooklyn itself. This IABSE Congress is expected to attract academic and practicing engineers, young and experienced to experts from around the world, and promises to be a window into the future of structural engineering while also taking the opportunity to look back at the past. Presentations covering all aspects of structural engineering in the Metropolis will challenge engineers to identify issues, develop sustainable solutions, and execute innovative designs. Through podium, roundtable, panel, and poster presentations, participants will have an opportunity to share their knowledge with others. Those choosing to participate in one of the two special sessions will become contributors to a state-of-the-practice white paper on each subject to be published by IABSE.
