‘Bridges and Structures Sustainability - Seeking Intelligent Solutions’
IABSE Conference Guangzhou, China, May 8-11, 2016.
The IABSE Conference 'Bridges and Structures Sustainability-Seeking Intelligent Solutions' will be held from May 8-11, 2016, in Guangzhou, China. This Event is organised by the Chinese Group of IABSE associated with Guangzhou University, Tongji University, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Authority, and Guangdong Provincial Chang Da Highway Engineering Co., Ltd. The Organising Committee is co-chaired by Jie Cui and Yaojun Ge and the Scientific Committee is co-chaired by Limin Sun, China and Quanke Su, Hong Kong.
This Conference is a gathering for professional engineers, researchers and public agencies around the world for the exchange of ideas, sharing of experience on various aspects of sustainable structures, and exploring the future of intelligent solutions especially for design, construction and maintenance of major projects.
The Scientific Programme will cover two days and is followed by Technical Visits to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and the Guangzhou Tower on May 11, 2016. The Scientific Programme includes plenary and parallel sessions in form of short presentations combined with group discussions during the conference. Keynote and invited speakers will address the conference generally in the plenary sessions, and thematic parallel sessions will be held for the presentation of papers selected by the Scientific Committee.

Young Engineers Programme
All delegates born in 1982 or later and students will enjoy reduced registration fees. In addition a jury will award two young authors, born in or after 1982 who have personally presented their paper during the conference, with the Young Engineers’ Contribution Award.
Young Engineer Workshop (YEW) 2016
A workshop for young engineers will be hosted at the conference venue in the afternoon of May 7. It is basically a design competition using Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge as
background. The proposal will be limited to the following three structures: Jiuzhou Channel Bridge, one segment of the continuous bridges in deep water areas, and a tunnel segment. Enrolment is by April 10, 2016
