“Assessment, Upgrading and Refurbishment of Infrastructures”
IABSE Conference Rotterdam, The Netherlands, May 6-8, 2013
This IABSE Conference is a must for scientists, practising engineers, contractors, fabricators, designers and asset owners concerned with assessment and refurbishment of infrastructures.
There are many reasons for challenging the engineering society for proposing and developing methods, tools, solutions and ways for implementing the refurbishment and modernisation of infrastructure. Among them are the need to assure functioning of the infrastructure during the necessary upgrade, the limited financial means, the heritage value, the use of new materials, the confinement of space and most certainly the reliable assessment of the condition and load-carrying capacity of structures. This is why there is such a large variety of concepts and systems in this field, which constitutes an excellent theme for a conference. The Technical Programme includes 6 keynote presentations and more than 275 papers from 40 countries have been been accepted for oral presentation.
• Ton Vrouwenvelder TNO, TU Delft, The Netherlands
• Jean-Marie Cremer, Greisch Liège, Belgium
• Thomas Vogel, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
• Carmelo Gentile, Polytecnico di Milano, Italy
• Andrew W. Herrmann, Hardesty & Hanover, USA (President of ASCE)
• Airong Chen, Tongji University, China
The ‘Young Engineers Programme' will allow young engineers born after 1/1/1978 to participate at a reduced registration fee, as well as to report on their research or practical work and to meet experienced colleagues.
